REPTON, ONE OF THE UK'S OLDEST SCHOOLS TO OPEN IN BAHRAIN

Established in 1557 – Repton is bringing 470 years of education to the Kingdom

Repton School has officially unveiled the plans for Repton Bahrain, the first ever UK independent school to open in the Kingdom.

As the gateway to the Gulf, Bahrain’s unique blend of economic prosperity, warm hospitality, and high standards of living make it the ideal destination for Repton’s latest school.

The school will be strategically located to offer convenient access from across the Kingdom, and from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province via the King Fahd Causeway.

A co-educational school, Repton Bahrain will educate pupils aged three to 18 and will occupy a state-of-the-art 32,000 square-metre campus, housing world-class facilities that include digital classrooms, a purpose-built sixth form centre, a six-lane swimming pool, athletics track, and 4G sports pitches. Pupils will study International GCSEs and A-Levels, enabling them to follow the same ambitious pathway that has taken generations of Repton leavers to Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, and Yale, as well as many other world-leading universities.

Repton Bahrain becomes the thirteenth school in the ever-growing Repton Family of Schools. The announcement comes as Repton Dubai, Repton’s first overseas school, enters its twentieth year. Having opened in 2007, it was also the first UK independent school to open in Dubai. Together with Repton Al Barsha and two further Repton Abu Dhabi campuses on Al Reem Island. The Repton Family of Schools’ reach extends even further globally. Collectively, Repton now educates 11,000 pupils across three continents and four different time zones, marking it as one of the world’s leading and fastest growing educational groups.

The announcement was made at the Gateway Gulf Investment Forum in Manama, an invitation-only gathering hosted by the Bahrain Economic Development Board, where the agreement was signed by Mark Semmence, Headmaster of Repton UK, and Chairman of Repton Family of Schools, alongside His Excellency Ali Alromaihi, Board Member of Sama Alriffa,  and Abdulhakeem Al Khayyat, Managing Partner of Daylight Advisory. This was completed in front of global leaders, investors and policymakers from Bahrain, the Gulf, and beyond.

Mr Semmence thanked the Ministry of Education and the Economic Development Board for the warmth with which they had welcomed Repton to the Kingdom:

“Repton Bahrain will share Repton’s values and ethos while being shaped by, and respectful of, the culture and traditions of Bahrain. Repton has been educating young people for almost 470 years, having been founded in 1557, and everything we do is designed to enable our pupils to grow into curious, confident and considerate global citizens.

Reptonians can enjoy a world-class education across the Family of Schools from where they will move on to higher education and into the world of work with a determination to make a positive and lasting impact on all they do and everyone they encounter. I am very proud that our partners in the Kingdom have chosen Repton to bring our approach to education to Bahrain, and this is the beginning of something very special.”

Abdulhakeem Al Khayyat, from Daylight Advisory said:

“Repton will make a significant additional contribution to teaching methods and the quality of education in Bahrain, most notably through its award-winning STEM programme. It will also raise the bar for competition among the Kingdom’s schools and enable a greater number of Bahrain-based students to secure admission to world-renowned universities.”

Pupils at Repton Bahrain will benefit from taking part in global exchanges and residential visits to Repton in the UK. They will have access to international careers experts and teachers from across the Family of Schools through virtual classrooms that connect each of the schools. They will also be able to continue their Repton education at any of the schools in the group should they choose to do so.

Further details, including the appointment of the Founding Principal, will be announced in due course. Families can register for more information and updates at www.Reptonbahrain.com
